First Holy Communion 2022 will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, May 7.
In First Holy Communion (the "Sacrament of Love," as Pope Francis calls it), children receive the Eucharist -- source and summit of our faith -- for the first time.
Children in St. John Chrysostom Parish typically celebrate First Communion in second grade, although we understand that families may have special needs that require other circumstances. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs. First Communion, regardless of your child's school, is overseen by the
Parish Religious Education Program (PREP).
Note to PREP Parents: PREP begins in first grade, as required
by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Children must be enrolled every year
from grades 1 to 7 to complete their sacraments as scheduled.
Grades may not be skipped, and extended absences may delay your child's sacraments. Children who take time off of PREP will resume where they left off.
